A Season of Growth
As summer begins to give way to fall, we can see signs of change all around us. The mornings are getting a little cooler, the days are getting a little shorter, and here at MVJA, we are entering a new season of learning too.
The first few weeks of school have been about getting settled—learning routines, building relationships, and finding our rhythm together. Now, as we move further into the school year, our students are beginning to dig deeper into their learning.
This week, our students have been putting on their historian hats and becoming detectives of the past. Rather than simply memorizing names, places, and dates, they have been examining evidence, asking questions, and thinking about how we know what happened long before we were here.
We are also preparing for MAP testing next week. Testing is only one snapshot of a student’s learning, but it gives us valuable information about where each student is growing and where they may need additional support or challenge.
There is a season for planting, a season for tending, and a season for growth. Right now, we are doing a little bit of all three. I am excited to see what God continues to grow in each of our students as this school year unfolds.

Detectives of the Past
What can clues from the past teach us?
This week, our students have been learning that historians are a lot like detectives! They have been examining evidence, asking questions, and using what they discover to piece together stories about people and events from the past.
Learning history isn’t just about remembering dates—it’s about asking how we know what we know and learning to think carefully about the evidence we find.
